Ram Pratap Verma, popularly known as Shashikant Verma, is a prominent Indian politician and a two-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from the Utraula constituency in Balrampur district, Uttar Pradesh, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Born on 7 August 1983, he hails from a respected Kurmi family, deeply rooted in cultural values and social service. He is the son of Shri Shyamlal Verma, former MLA of Utraula (2007–2012), and has inherited a strong political legacy and commitment towards public welfare.
Earlier Life- Ram Pratap Verma’s early education began at Saraswati Shishu Mandir, Utraula, an institution known for instilling discipline and cultural grounding. He pursued higher education with the same zeal, completing his post-graduation from Maharani Lal Kunwari Mahavidyalaya, an esteemed institution that further shaped his intellectual foundation.Right from his school days, he was inclined towards nation-building and became associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). This early involvement instilled in him the spirit of nationalism, discipline, and selfless service — qualities that became pillars of his political journey.
Apart from his political engagements, Ram Pratap Verma is also a visionary entrepreneur. He is the Director of SRTC Group of Colleges, and his contributions to the field of education reflect his dedication to youth empowerment and nation development. Under his leadership, these institutions have provided quality education to thousands of students from rural and semi-urban backgrounds. He also runs several businesses, creating employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy.
His personal life is equally grounded.Ram Pratap Verma is a proud father of two sons, Shashank Verma and Shivank Verma. His wife, Mrs. Sunita Verma, has been serving as the unopposed village head (Gram Pradhan) of their native village Imalia Vanghusra since 2011, indicating a shared family commitment to public service and rural development.
